When is the doctor on campus? What services can the Health and Wellness Center provide to me as a student?

Answer

The Health and Wellness Center is open to all JWU students and provides free, comprehensive primary healthcare and prevention services, including:

  • Mental health counseling
  • Physicals
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illness
  • Prescription refills
  • Medication maintenance
  • Wound care
  • Limited vaccinations (does not include: MMR, Meningitis, Hepatitis A)
  • Referrals to specialists
  • STD education and testing
  • Management of primary care issues such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid issues, depression, acne, migraines

The center is staffed by a part-time mid-level provider such as a physician's assistant, nurse practitioner and a medical assistant. A licensed professional counselor is available by appointment for direct clinical services including assessment, brief treatment, referral, and crisis intervention.
