My marketing instructor told me I need to use the Standard Rate & Data Service (SRDS). What is it and where do I find it?

I need consumer demographic information as well as advertising rates for different types of media (radio, magazines, newspapers, cable, etc.).

Standard Rate & Data Service is an electronic resource that contains two major types of information:

  1. Ad rates, circulation figures, and other data for media publications. Media types include: business publications, consumer magazines, newspapers, and international sources radio, TV & cable digital media, including web sites direct marketing out-of-home/outdoors (billboards, banners, buses...)
  2. Demographic and lifestyle/behvaior information on consumers.

A tutorial is available to explain how to use the SRDS.

Note: SRDS, particularly the demogrpahic portion called Local Market Audience Analyst (LMAA), works well only in Internet Explorer. The file at the bottom of this page (How to use LMAA in Firefox or Chrome) explains how to add an IE extension to Firefox or Chrome, if you prefer.
