The materials in the Denver Campus Library are organized by the Library of Congress (LC) Classification System so that materials on similar subjects are shelved together. Each item is given a subject heading that corresponds to a call number which identifies the location of the item on a shelf.
When noting an item's call number from the Library Catalog, be sure to also note its location and status. The library has several distinct collections, including the "stacks" (listed in the catalog simply as J&W-Denver), DVD, reference, reserve, periodicals, the new book shelf and the McNaughton collection, and all housed in separate areas of the Library. As well, unless an item's location indicates it's available, you will not find it on the shelf.
Items are arranged on the shelves from left to right, top to bottom, according to call numbers. Call numbers are read in this format:
